Adopting a Denominational Name

In order to own property legally a name needed to be chosen for the groups of Sabbathkeeping Adventists. Although many of the brethren had been previously averse to such a step, they more and more signified their change of opinion.

After James White had taken the floor at the conference in Battle Creek in October 1860, the motion to adopt a name was finally put before the delegates, and it carried.
